Six Flags Great Adventure | Unknown | Unknown Kingda Ka replacement | 2026+

Oof, that's gotta be some of the saddest concept art I've ever seen.

Shoreline Pier on the Boardwalk
"Experience the Vibe of the Jersey Shore"

No shoreline, no pier, no boardwalk. Just some wood-effect stamped concrete, pampas grass, and a smattering of mismatched carnival rides. This whole area seems so cheap and uninspired. Just compare this to actual seaside amusement piers within driving distance of the park (for example, Casino Pier).

Great Adventure is a mess and in desperate need of some vision. Maybe there is a lot more to this than shown in this concept art, but I don't see how this is radically better than what was in this area before.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "Boardwalk" at Six Flags Fiesta Texas also has no shoreline, no pier, and no water. Is it equally hated?

Please don't read any sass into this reply, but that area is built as an elevated wooden boardwalk. It originally did have a pier over water with paddle boats, but the water has been drained where the Zamperla Disko is now. It also is a widely criticized area of the park (longstanding rumours that Pandemonium will be removed as a larger redevelopment to that area).

---

Anyway, if I came across overly negative it's because the park has been talking BIG about their longterm vision for the park. In my opinion, that concept art looks more appropriate for a small regional park than (formerly) one of the world's largest amusement parks combatting a huge decline in attendance. If the area turns out nicely, I'll be first in line to eat some humble pie.

It seems like the park is putting all their eggs in one basket — this new roller coaster. And fair enough, it's a huge investment. I do worry it's an early 2000s 'coaster wars' mindset, but my inner thoosie is very excited to see this crazy coaster getting built! I used to build upside down launches when I played Ultra Coaster back in the day. Absolutely insane to see one actually getting built! I imagine it's going to start going up quick from here 🤓

I'm in the minority but I still think this will be a great ride (though to be fair, anything was going to be better than Kingda Ka... 'twas a horrible ride).

The capacity will be bad (I mean we'll see, moving station platform will help), but sitting in those trains at 100 mph will be ridiculous. The outside tilt at the top will be insane.

To be fair, that hangtime moment at the top of the spike looks absolutely vile. I don't think it's going to be as iconic as Ka, but I think that might still provide a very memorable moment.

It'll be an incredible experience. I don't know how comfortable it'll be, and the throughput is a concern, but it's a coaster that sells itself based on moments.

I think if would have been a much better investment if it was a full circuit ride - the descent could have had different ways to utilise the spinning motion, thus creating more moments.

If it wasn't for KdKs removal, this would be a somewhat lackluster addition for me, given it has only 2 elements, but somewhat fitting to the park. But with it replacing KdK I just can't get myself to look forward to it.
I don't expect it to be a bad ride, the elements should be fun and the height has a quality of its own, but this is just a modern iteration of the one trick pony KdK was.
Maybe I am just angry that I was spited by the park last year.

I’m sure it’ll pack a punch and end up feeling more satisfying than the layout might suggest at first glance. On paper, just two elements can seem a bit underwhelming, but I actually think it’s a pretty smart design. The slow movement at the top of the tower should really stretch the perceived duration, while that sideways hanging, exposed moment will likely keep the adrenaline up rather than killing it.

So honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about it feeling short or lacking. If anything, it might just be a different kind of experience. That said, I do think it could come across as slightly less “complete” compared to Top Thrill 2.

But then again, people were saying all sorts of negative things about that ride before anyone had actually experienced it. Once riders got on, the tone shifted pretty quickly. So yeah – probably best to wait and see how this one rides once it’s open.

A photo from ParkFans today, the not tall portion of the coaster has moved quickly. Mack really saw that Vekoma stall in the same park and said hold mein bier;

EDIT; This pic is already outdated, another piece of track was lifted to the left just after post time this morning 😱

About the actual fireworks, we had an FAA filing yesterday for a 375 foot coaster tower. So la di da.Screen Shot 2026-04-03 at 11.17.55 AM.png

I have thought about that too. My guess is that if there is hangtime, you won't feel it as much as on a normal stall as the launch's accelaration will most likely outweigh the gravitational forces pulling you down. It all depends on how fast you will be going.
Personally i think it would be most interesting if they decided to make it "exactly" zero-g maintained throughout the whole stall, with the launch they should be able to control that quite well.
Either way, as you say it has the potential to be very unique

This thing is gonna be nuts...
I completely understand people's concerns about whether or not this is a "worthy" replacement of Kingda Ka, however, you have to marvel at the fact MACK Rides came through with what is sure to be a stand-out attraction at the park...

Obviously, for such a high-profile park, you would expect better capacity... and well, lets be honest, we need more full circuit coasters anyways...
Even if this wasn't the intended replacement for Ka, then its a killer replacement.

Will the capacity be all that bad if it's got a transfer track to the launch and is quite short? Can't they just load one train while the other is on the track, then swap?
