I'm just mad none of those rides made it out to SFMM. There are more flat rides in that one pic than in SFMM's entire park (excluding kiddie rides), lol
While there's likely some truth to that, the fact of the matter is they need to do the most testing with all the cars spinning... and there's been very little of that.
Maybe 8-10 months ago, Goliath at Magic Mountain retooled their brakes going into the station, and they are awful. Not only very harsh and abrupt, but then they instantly release and repeat it about 3-4 times in a row. I have no idea why it's like this now.
If you are watching the ride, you...
There's rumors/hopes of a mid to late May opening, but I don't know... not only is there still a lot to do, I feel like there have been an alarmingly few number of tests done where all the cars are rotating correctly and consistently. So I'm not going to be surprised if it's more mid-summer...
At SFMM, there's a backstage area with 3 mazes in one single location, so everything was basically concentrated to that section of the park. including a single scare zone. In the following year, they did also include the Saw maze, which was on the entire opposite end of the park, but there was...
Been hearing there have been issues, which is sort of evidenced by the lack of spinning in the vast majority of test runs seen so far.
I feel like once we see consistent spinning tests, then we could be about a month+ away from a soft opening.
You are right about Hurricane Harbor... they surprisingly did a unexpectedly good job with that. Still a few problems, and they do desperately need a new ride there (it's been over 13 years). But in terms of refreshes, it was very well done.
I also agree that we all have to remember that this...
Since it's basically "officially" dead, I'll add Desperado at Las Vegas Stateline/Buffalow Bill's.
I know it got a lot of hate as the years dragged on (mostly deservedly so), but when it first opened, it was as great and intense and fun as Millennium Force.
Just rode it last night, and it's still in pretty decent shape, IMO.
Rumors of it's imminent demise have been around for years. But given how rare that model is, it does mean eventually parts will be too difficult to come by, so it does seem inevitable it'll go at some point. But they do see...
When I did Ride to Happiness last summer, they did not allow glasses, even with a strap. Super disappointing for me, as no other ride in the area (of major parks, at least) had this policy, and I'm pretty blind without them, so I didn't really get to see much of anything while riding it.
Aside from everything else people have mentioned, reliability is a pretty big factor.
Look at all the trouble and downtime that both Kingda Ka and Top Thrill had (in both iterations) over their lifetimes. Do we really expect Falcon to be fully operational without a hitch when it finally...
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, but I basically do not ride any more SLC's (exception: if it's been recently refurbished, especially with the vest restraints). I'd rather have my health than the credit.
Stratosphere has a Space Shot (going up), but Buffalo Bill's had a Turbo Drop (going down).
If Coasterpedia is accurate, Stratosphere was in 1996, and Buffalo Bill's was 1997. So pretty close. Detonator at Worlds of Fun was also pretty early on in 1996 as well, but they claim Wisconsin Dells...
The crazy thing, looking back, is that it really wasn't all that hard to get a ride for the first few years it opened. It ran pretty consistently for a number of years, and that's when I got most of my rides in. It was a great ride initially, very Magnum-esque, but with that sweeping turn that...
