Universal Studios Hollywood | Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift | Intamin Spinning Launch| 2026

The initial concept art on page 1 of the thread showed a backward spike, likely from an early iteration of the ride. Obviously it's changed since those renders were made.
Oh, I forgot about that. A moderator or someone should change the title and remove swing launch, because a person that doesn't already know before seeing that could think it actually has a swing launch.

Apparently a train has been sent (no video evidence though!):

Edit: some photos of it on the track here:

Looks slow

(Think this is my first looks slow post, do I get points..?)

That last roll reminds me of Taiga's finale which is great. Infact the whole ride has a Taiga feel about it, albeit some more graceful movements because of the trains. RtH+Taiga.

It's still early testing; first full circuit tests. I imagine they start the launches as slow as possible to determine the lower threshold of operating limits before pushing towards operating speeds.

No spinning/turning yet either, interesting that the spinning can be completely turned off

Cobra's Curse @BGT turns spinning on and off mid ride. It's a setting on the train that locks/unlocks during mid-course brake runs. Even in that vid you can see there are "slow" spots on straight runs where these systems will come into place.

Might be a first for an Intamin, someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

Honestly the ride looks great without any spinning, this thing will be the most popular ride in the park. Hoping Intamin will be able to efficiently correct any maintenence issues that will inevitably come with a coaster of this magnitude.

I know Intamin gets a lot of guff because they're always pushing the boundaries and that comes with the territory. But i'm glad Universal has invested so much in them in recent years, they definitely deserve more attention than B&M.

Opening in the summer, so we have a few more months of testing yet, I feel like they must be working through some teething issues.

Been hearing there have been issues, which is sort of evidenced by the lack of spinning in the vast majority of test runs seen so far.

I feel like once we see consistent spinning tests, then we could be about a month+ away from a soft opening.

It's a new (Intamin) coaster with a complex ride system, of course it will have issues. Will be pretty good when it opens though

They also need to similarly commission several different trains.

Universal's last two massive Intamin's saw vastly different metrics of testing, Hagrid was under pressure for a rushed opening and didn't spend the time it needed in commissioning, thus opening with several trains out of service and constant breakdowns. VelociCoaster meanwhile began cycling in December with an April/May/June soft-opening in mind, even though that was a far less complicated system. The Epic attractions of course had all the time in the world to prepare.

The Orlando Fast & Furious apparently isn't scheduled to wrap construction until June of next year, based on how they figure out this system we might also see that open closer to HHN rather than in time for peak season.

Testing with cars 2, 3 and 4 drifting which looks great, however car 1 seems to be stuck sideways which looks dreadful:
