In news that many of us will have seen coming a mile off it seems the grand Trans Studio Mini experiment in Indonesia has failed catastrophically and they are closing most if not all of their small mall based parks. (Trans Studio Mini and Kid City brands)
Originally Transmart bought 40+ of these Vekoma junior coasters back in the years before covid but curtailed their order to mid 20s shortly after.
They also picked up pretty much any Vekoma junior coaster going second hand at the time.
They eventually opened at least 33 small parks each with one junior coaster and an assortment of other rides.
It seems these never really took off and now they are pretty much all for sale.
I've currently seen a list of rides for sale that includes
2 Vekoma 207m Roller Skaters (standard older model like woody woodpecker)
25 Vekoma 247m Roller Skaters (smaller model like Frida at Energylandia)
1 Zierer Force Two Junior Coaster
along with an absolute deluge of small rides from bumber cars and log flumes to Zamperla sky riders and family swings.
Rides have already begun to close and come down
It seems for now the 3 bigger parks (Bali, Cibubur and Bandung) will be spared the chop but any of the smaller ones are up for grabs
its going to be really interesting to see how this affects the market with at least 28 second hand junior coasters suddenly flooding the market.
Keeping track of where these end up is going to be a real pain in the arse i can tell you (The spreadsheet is ready)
Oh and if you're wondering an older 207m model can be had for as little as 286k while the newer 247m are all going for around 900k to 1.1mil Get your wallets out CF
