Small News From The Theme Park Industry

Tokyo Dome City attractions are closed after a maintenance worker dies during an inspection of the Flying Balloon kid's drop tower
Seems like the entire park including Thunder Dolphin will be closed indefinitely, at least until the end of June as of now.

Another mountain coaster for Scotland, yes please. Planning has been submitted for what will be the tallest and longest (1.3km) mountain coaster in the UK.

This Sunkid model will hopefully be going to Cairngorm Mountain Resort.

Not major news but I have to come celebrate; Linnunrata at Linnanmäki is once again just Linnunrata. They've removed eXtra from the name as they've finally after 10 years dropped the VR goggles from the ride and now it's back to just being a space themed indoor coaster again as all references to VR have been erased.

The past season or two they've gradually been improving the indoor section with additional black walls and such to block off maintenance areas (where you could see pillars and maintenance lights and such) but now that they've removed the VR part of the ride completely they've done well with adding back or adding new asteroids, satellites and other such space themed props hanging around the track, as well as a moving star projection in the first room, a smoke burst machine at the bottom of the first drop and flashing lights in the station again for the countdown sequence at dispatch.

The world's best Zierer force is back baybeee (I haven't ridden enough force coasters to confirm tbh) I feel like they could've done this change when covid made them stop using the VR for a while since VR on coasters was a bit of a 2015/16 flash in the pan, but I'm glad they've removed them now and as result improved the scenery.

Verbolten, which has been closed since January for a revamp, will reopen as “Verbolten: Forbidden Turn” on May 30th. The updated attraction features a new storyline, animatronics, and immersive special effects. Busch Gardens members will receive early access May 29th, before the grand opening ceremony scheduled for 10:30 a.m. the next day. Source

Yeah, was there that day. One of the most miserable visits I've had in a park honestly. Was not having fun in that cold rain and high winds.

The park was dead obviously, so I managed about 14 of the creds in a few hours (including the big boys). But someone thought it was a good idea to run all three trains on Leviathan. The train that valleyed only had five riders apparently. It's not like they could just wait for the train to fill up, because then you'd have two trains of riders sitting on the brake run for ages.

Was able to go back the next day though. The park got them both back open a little after midday.
