Särkänniemi Amusement Park | Konect | Vekoma Junior Coaster | 2026

Vekoma track always looks so cool and interesting off ride but then you ride it and it just doesn’t do a lot
Vekoma's team has been open about designing rides that prioritize reridability and comfort over more intensive and nauseating experiences. Lech Coaster was a violent experimental swing in the stronger direction and sadly that design has since not been the norm.

That being said as a family coaster this will probably be quite good. Essentially it's just a larger version of Yeti Trek at Santa's Village Ontario, which in itself is already much taller and behaves far differently than Vekoma's other junior stock layouts. Yeti Trek benefitted from an awesome location (as will this), but it also felt more like a Gravity Group layout with high-speed twists and hills. If you take that and give it more spice then I'd say that park is in for a treat.

Testing!

Great big POV!

Park has opened for the season, the coaster's officially opening on the 14th in 10 days, but we have an updated POV with staff and press allowed on board, turns out there's onboard audio with narration on the lift hill and music during the rest!

Translation for the lift hill narration:
"Hello! The conductor here, I warmly welcome you aboard Konect! Take a look to your left, there you can see the incredible Näsinneula, (the park's big observation tower) Tampere's landmark. Directly in front of you opens a view of the massive Näsi-lake. To some, almost a sea! How about below? Well, there we can see many kinds of amusement rides and happy people! Now we'll speed through Särkänniemi on Konect. And hey! Remember to smile, on our trip your expression will be immortalized. Make sure to hold on, now let's go! *music starts*"
Plus a schpiel at the end with the usual "welcome back, remember to take your stuff with you" stuff. Cool feature to have onboard audio like this at a non-themed park and something unique for Finland.
