Gröna Lund Jetline replacement

Jonsson

Roller Poster
Gröna Lund has just recently applied for permit to dismantle Jetline including station building and the building housing the fortune wheels next to it. At the same time they have applied for permit to build a two storey building on the plot of land. The new building will host three fortune wheel kiosks as well as well as a warehous on two floors in the part of the building towards the sea. More interestingly the other part of the building is stated to be an indoor ride, taking advantage of the full height of the building. The floorspace available for the ride is 628 m2, which is a bit larger than Blå Tågets 490 m2 making my personal guess that this would be some kind of dark ride.

The building will have a flat roof and Vilda Musen is present in the drawings as well so that won't go anywhere it seems.

Worth noticing also is that the Reverchon music express "Rock Jet" situated on top of the building "across the street" from this permit application was closed this off season, so far no word on what will be replacing that.

City of Stockholm has the information posted above including the drawings which are very general and not finalised. To be able to actually view them you need to log in with an electronic ID, you might have some luck with non Swedish ones as well as it seems to be supported.

Oh. Kinda disappointing if it truly is a dark ride replacing a coaster, especially when Jetline was my favourite thing at the park. Dark rides are fun and all, but they're not ever gonna be worth the same as a coaster or big flat ride to me unless it's like Efteling or something.

Agreed. I know the accident was serious, but I think permanently closing it was a bit extreme, especially since it was a good coaster and so well integrated into the park, making it hard to replace.

That said, it was an older ride and possibly a maintenance burden. Maybe the accident just gave them a good reason to finally shut it down.

Looks like some kinda of dark ride and a warehouse.. Laaaaaaame! A lot of my colleagues are still very wary of Gröna Lund because of the accident; they really took a hit attendance-wise.

Here are some of the plans that weren't too big.

I originally posted this info in the small news thread, but it could very well be connected with a Jetline replacement as well.

Gröna Lund has announced the removal of the Zierer flying carpet "Flygande Mattan". On their webpage (link) they say that something big is about to be revealed with a countdown to Saturday september 13.

Now obviously anyone that has been to Gröna Lund knows that there's simply no space for something "big" in the spot that Flygande Mattan currently occupies. The removal of Jetline is about to start at the same time as Flygande Mattan will be removed, earlier this year "Rock Jet" was also dismantled.

Below is a top down view of the area with Jetline clearly visible as well as Rock Jet cicled in red and Flygande mattan in blue.

To me it seems just a bit too random that two, albeit old, flat rides near Jetline are removed at the same time. I don't think that the permits they have applied for paints the full picture, but I'm just speculating at this point.

Turns out the Flygande Mqttan replacement indeed was a flat ride and not related to the Jetline replacement at all.

Gröna Lund will introduce "Spindeln" (The spider), a SBF super jumper in 2026. Aesthetically it looks good and capacity seems decent with 42 rider per cycle. I also think it's good to see Gröna Lund replacing their rather old line up of flat rides with newer ones.

Still waiting for more information regarding the Jetline plot though.

To be fair I can see why. Most manufacturers that make Jumpers don't usually cater to parks, Technical Park also does ground mounts but perhaps SBF was cheaper and could get it done on a schedule. Gröna Lund also kind of has the daunting and immediate task of cleaning house and rebuild in their main park, where a bunch of stuff has reached expiry dates in a relatively short time period and rebuilding/replacing will help get them back on track. And that has to happen before the groundbreaking expansion they'd already developed. New stuff costs money and even with a reported dip in attendance post-Jetline they're still working to develop new attractions with some degree of quality and presentation. It looks like a fun people-eater anyways, it'll have a themed queue, and appears as far removed from the tacky FEC rides that SBF can get, so this'll probably be a win regardless.

So I’ll be one of the last riders on the original version this Sunday, then. Good timing, I guess.

New cred when you re-ride to, too!

And if you want to purchase Flygande Mattan, you can. I'm kinda surprised to see Gröna Lund putting an older ride like this up for sale, since high attendance parks don't do it nearly as often unless it's a very new ride, since you can't get that much money from selling something like this. That, and them buying an SBF flat to replace it makes me think they're a bit tighter on cash right now, maybe.

More deconstruction progress:

So far it looks like a careful disassembly but I expect that's more to avoid damage to nearby rides and buildings rather than a sign that it will be relocated.

I believe it’d be impossible, as they attached the wild mouse to a number it’s supports. Unless of course they are rebuilding those supports from scratch, they did say there would be slight tweaks to it’s layout.

New planning documents suggest Gröna Lund is getting not just a darkride but a new Gerstlauer Airtime Coaster tentatively called ”Fenix” to replace Jetline
That is very interesting. Hopefully it will open around the same time as the darkride.
