Cedar Point to close Snake River Falls

Latest Intel - the Forbidden Frontier jungle gym is also coming down. We are clearing a lot of land between SRF and the entire island!IMG_0269.jpeg

The park also announced the removal of the nearby Highground play adventure area a couple of days ago. The Highground opened in 2019 as part of the Forbidden Frontier interactive experience with live actors, but has sat dormant for years since it was last operational in 2022.

It's a bummer the Forbidden Frontier was a collective bust (and the Snake River Expedition ride to match). Chock it up to poor planning and horrible access barriers - I was hopeful for the resurrection of a large-scale play area, similar to Kid Arthur's Court for those that remember in the late 80s and 90s. The play area was similar to Forbidden Frontier to be accommodating of both children and adults, and was a blast to adventure through as a six-year-old Hyde (stood where the Ferris Wheel currently stands).

I was guilty of slipping out to the Forbidden Frontier playground periodically, especially to jump on the nice, large rope net they had.

The most successful thing to ever deploy on that island remains two overbanked turns of Millennium Force. Here's hoping whatever comes next, has more staying power than Dinosaurs Alive! and Forbidden Frontier.

Manoeuvring back to this thread since Cedar Point seems to be back in the headspace of what's next. A survey that went out yesterday depicted a Vekoma Thrill Glider, LIM Family Coaster (Big Bear Mountain), and an ART Engineering family launch coaster, as well as a new nighttime spectacular and stunt show. It'd be cool if a new show is on the horizon, although it appears like the park is yet again trying to band-aid fix crippling operational issues with YET another coaster.
