Belantis amusement park acquired by Compagnie des Alpes

Damn, that could end up being a very good thing.

CdA run their parks well, invest in them amazingly, and do well in general. The Eastern part of Germany is lacking a good theme park, and whilst Plohn is vaguely nearby, there's not exactly a lot of competition here. The park could easily be transformed into a really solid attraction with lots of appeal; only a couple of hours from Berlin isn't exactly bad.

Look at what CdA have done with Walibi Rhone Alpes; could very much see them having similar success with Belantis.

Exciting times.

I know this probably isn't entirely relevant although kinda is considering their expansion. I could see Compagnie des Alpes acquiring a UK park at some point in the future.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Walibi Britain if this happens.

Walibi Pembrokeshire perhaps - we can dream!

When I visited this place I remember thinking 'I am never gonna come back here'.
Wasn't a fan of the place at all. There's pockets of niceness attached with basically zip ties, temporary facilities and as a whole the place just gives off a kind of weird vibe.

I can see why CdA would want it though, the location is great and there's at least some decent foundations there. I even like Huracan quite a bit. Here's hoping CdA can work their magic and convince me that I need to return to Belantis!

CdA is making moves now that they fully own the park. The company has appointed former Familypark Neuseidlersee director Filip De Witte to the lead position at Belantis, with previous director Bazil El Atassi leaving after seven years. De Witte oversaw multiple major installations at Familypark, including the Intamin log flume ”Beaver Lodge”, so this is a good sign of things to come at Belantis.

The park will be changed to Parc Asterix Deutschland by 2030/2031
An Idefix area (the dog) will open in 2026

Just dropping my two cents

Couldn’t that be a second parc d‘asterix ?

Asterix is quiet big in Germany as well, plus the park has already some Rome / egyptian theming. I think this would make a lot sense. The park always had a lot potential but nobody really took care of the park.
Can't say I expected Asterix to become part of a chain, but you called it! They'll have one heck of a task bringing this park up to par with the French original (or even remotely close), but I look forward to seeing what they decide to do with it.

I didn't expect them to go down the Asterix route. I mean it makes sense, but to go down that route is something that will be a huge investment, tricky to get right and will effectively completely transform Belantis into something completely new and different. In other words, it's the most difficult (and expensive) option CdA had to them. They could have kept it as is in terms of branding and just injected money into the place. Or gone the easier Walibi Deutschland route.

Very exciting to see though. Obviously will be a slow transformation, and even when they do rebrand, I don't see it being like the Parc Asterix immediately. But there's buckets of potential, and it'll really work well for the area.

Have you got this week's EuroMillions lottery numbers please?

This, and although Leipzig is the only nearby city, Berlin, Frankfurt, Nürberg, Hannover, and even Prague, are all within a 100-mile radius.
I can see this being a real destination park for those cities and beyond in another decade, with the right investments.

As reported by Themepark Magic
'The German Belantis was taken over by the amusement park chain Compagnie des Alpes in April 2025. The park will be completely transformed into the German Parc Astérix in the coming years. In 2026, the park will open a new theme area around Idéfix; the little white dog of Obelix. In "Idefix' Adventure Land" there will be 4 new children's attractions, new catering spot, new sanitary, playground and a meet-and-greet-room with the comic characters. On the concept art we can conclude that the following rides will be added: mini Log Flume, Zamperla Jump Arround, Zamperla Magic Bikes and Zamperla Speedway. Every year, investments will be made into new attractions and shows, including a new major roller coaster in 2027. The complete transformation will be completed by 2030/31. The park will then be named "Asterix Park Deutschland".
