Big Dipper derailment at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

To defend the (and I loathe the rather sexist term) "Karens", this isn't just a breakdown. A derailment is a serious incident that should not occur ever, and suggests maintenance issues. They are lucky no-one is hurt, as a derailment in another location could be lethal.

    Well that can't be good

What’s the wettest you’ve ever gotten on a non-water ride?

Joris en de Draak on my last trip. It was torrential rain just as the train left the station. The rain ended up flooding the car park it was that bad.

The "do you count it?" list

    - New Vekoma at Galaxyland 1 or 2? - 1 - Gold Rush at DMP (2 cycles on the same track) 1 or 2? - 1 - it is possible to ride the full track in one go, so it's just one. - Moebius coasters 1 or 2? - 2 as I'd have to queue twice to experience all of it. - Twin coasters 1 or 2? - 2, again, if I have...

Paultons Park | Serpents Curse | Mack Water Coaster | 2027

I get the impression that their investments aren't as expensive as those by Merlin. Valgard reportedly cost £12 million Lost Kingdom reportedly cost £9 million. By comparison, World of Jumanji reportedly cost £17 million, so only £4 million short of both Valgard and Lost Kindom combined...

Paultons Park | Serpents Curse | Mack Water Coaster | 2027

I do sense that some of us lose focus over who this park is actually for. I am sure it'll be a hit for the locals.

    Your Least Common Opinion?

I've done a lot of visits recently, and I'd like to offer my counter-argument on the above. For context, I have a Merlin Annual Pass, so I'm not coming at this from wanting to put down the Merlin parks because I like and want to visit them. I would agree, ride for ride, yes, Paultons is...

Oh dear, the paint job on that pair of Corkscrews is garbage.

Does anyone else think airtime is overrated?

For me it's my favourite sensation on a rollercoaster.

So what even is an "unworthy" replacement?

In the case of The Flume and Loggers Leap, I see where you are coming from as Hyperia and Wicker Man are better than the rides they replaced. However... Where my frustration lies with both replacements is that they created a hole in the park line ups. Log flumes are a dying breed, and are a...

Finland & Denmark - Day 10: Christianshavn & Tivoli Gardens

I have seen a few people mention Daemonen being terrible and rough, but when I rode in 2023 I absolutely loved it and didn't find it rough. Did it just go downhill sharply recently?

Busch Gardens Tampa | Unknown Stanley Falls Replacement | Mack Water Coaster | 202?

I mourn the death of any log flume. Reject log flume erasure, embrace the log flume.

    WTF Merlin?

My wife and I went to both Paultons and Legoland 2 weeks apart with our child in June. Same price visits (as noted above). We came away from Paultons happy and got value from it. We did 13 rides in the day, despite it being a weekend. We ate in a spacious air conditioned eatery. Legoland was...

    WTF Merlin?

It is worth noting that Merlin's model is different to Paultons in that there's limited hidden fees. I went to Legoland recently. Two adults was £39 each ..but then the parking is extra, £12. That's £90 overall. Fastrack is then extra on top of that if required. Paultons is £45 online, that's...

I rode Baron 1898 in May and it didn't feel rough then I thought.

How often would you replace a phone or tablet?

My phone has to truly be completely inoperable for me to get a new one. I HATE the process of transferring contacts etc. to a new device.
