The decision of any park to close a ride can rarely be attributed to a single factor, but economic viability is usually one of the most important deciding factors.
Of course, rides can actually make hard cash for parks, in ORPs, merchandise and fastrack schemes, so there is a degree of 'making...
Yes Owen! Nothing like having someone else argue your corner for you successfully ;) I doubt they could squeeze in a project as substantial as Gwazi for 2016, but it does seem a waste to leave it in such a state until 2017 - might they commence renovation in early 2016? Stop teasing us Alan!
On...
Gwazi was one of those rides which I really, badly wanted to love, but after riding it back in 2012, I was left ultimately disappointed, and here's why. It was my first, (and so far, only!) woodie, and one of the benefits of theme-parking with my family is that I truly get the GP's grasp of...
This is a tricky one...there could be many scenarios explaining this!
-'Karnan' could just be a fanboy attempting to draw attention to himself...
-He might have genuinely seen the plans (unlikely as it may seem..)
-Alton are using the enthusiast community to gauge the viability of the idea...
Re: Thorpe Park construction?
^^He wasn't implying that they should build a £30 million dark ride...
^And that is a very good question. I'd always thought some of Thorpe's Rides were awkwardly short...
Of course a park can be both - most financially successful parks do indeed have...
Re: Thorpe Park construction?
^^To be honest, they're so hard to compare since, in my honest opinion, they all have crucial flaws which greatly undermine them. Saw's rough, forceless and unexciting, Colossus has just been abandoned by management, Stealth's too short, and Swarm, whilst a good...
Re: Cedar Point Mantis to Close October 19
Rougarou official video announcement!
Nicely done logo, CP.
Could you have said 'I'll eat my hat if it becomes a floorless named Rougarou' too?

So there we are - Mantis is...
Anyone who reads the Q&A forums will know that I, very recently, took a little trip to Italy to visit two of the most acclaimed parks in Italy...OK, I'll just cut to the chase.
Day one - Luna park and Smile park
Having seen countless reviews and videos of this park, I was so hyped for...
Re: Cedar Point Mantis to Close October 19
One thing which struck me about the announcement, is that it was extremely negative, rather than being a celebration of the ride's history, as seen with countless 'nostalgic' ride removals. It's almost as if they're trying to provoke an outcry, and...
Re: Thorpe Park construction?
^So true...also makes Colossus a little redundant as (what would be) a completely inferior looper...
Visited Thorpe on Monday...and I'm afraid I noticed no signs whatsoever of any construction. After purchasing more parks, Merlin appears to be breaking from the...
Re: B&M Dive Machine for Gardaland in 2015 (?)
Visited the park last week, and can report that construction is very much underway! So much so that this topic might just need to be moved  .
Anyway, here's my video showing the state of construction as it was last week...
5 back to back rides! Does 2 in 30 minutes count for anything?
Also, I was just quoting TPR's park index where they stated 'typical Italian operations can lead to frustration'. For some reason they also claimed that Divertical was closed; I suppose they were correct about the latter...
I didn't really notice any 'typical' Italian operations, Katun for instance was running two trains all day without ever stacking, but despite the efficiency of the Ispeed ops, the queue literally inched forwards. This is largely Intamin's fault for the 12 person trains (as opposed to Katun's...
Thanks for all the feedback! I visited the park for 2 consecutive days using the wonderful deal, and subsequently did mirabeach for half a day. Before the full trip review is posted, here are a few thoughts:
-The park is, on the whole, very nicely kept and themed, although majorly flawed in the...
I'll be visiting this much-acclaimed Italian park very soon, and was just wondering if there exist any things I especially need to know, to maximise my time at the park. These include:
- Inexorably, queue times in general. How do they influence the 'running order'?
-Speaking of an order, which...
Well done on the cred  , I really need to properly goon out some day. On a serious note, there's a real gap in the UK theme park market itself, with Alton and Thorpe being the only parks with bigger B&Ms and Intamins (excluding Drayton). The public tend to really enjoy theme parks too...
I'll second that! Living on the Cambridge Essex border, it's over an hour's drive to reach Thorpe, which is loosely my 'home park'. I spied a Go-gator on Parker's Piece once, but that's quite literally the extent of Cambridgeshire's coasters. Essex only really has Adventure Island, which is...
Re: B&M Dive Machine for Gardaland in 2015 (?)
Special for the park? Yes. But internationally? I doubt it. I don't believe we'll see anything as pioneering (by B&M standards at least) as Raptor, despite our wishes and as for a launch - there's simply not enough space for a lift and a launch...
Over this summer...let me see...
-Ispeed
-Katun
-Divertical might be a wild card.
If neither of these make my #1 and #2 spot respectively, I think I shall likely have a little internal cry to myself, at least with all the hype given to these two coasters. I'm expecting Katun to rival Nemesis'...
Yes, yes it is  ... one of the many reasons I feel a need to reride it at some point in the future! You're right about ROTM too. The incredible theming attempts to, but cannot detract from an otherwise small, weak and in some places rough ride experience.
