Fun Spot Atlanta closure - ArieForce One Six Flags Magic Mountain relocation (page 6)

Six Flags Magic Mountain plans to embark on an ambitious multiyear investment plan billed as one of the most significant transformations in the park’s 55-year history that will add new roller coasters, attractions and entertainment.

Six Flags will announce a vision plan in early 2027 that promises to transform the Valencia amusement park into a world class entertainment destination, according to Magic Mountain President Brian Oerding.

“Our vision for Magic Mountain includes new attractions, more family experiences, enhanced entertainment and seasonal events, park beautification, new guest amenities and meaningful infrastructure improvements throughout the property,” Oerding said in a statement.

Six Flags corporate is in a really, really bad spot right now, and the next few years look to be pretty grim. Right now one of the best hands they can play for short-term gain is very quickly turning around a high-potential earner like SFMM, so alot of resources are going to be funneled to the park very quickly. Moving AF1 here was the best of the worst options. More of a triage with something they already had on hand because they don't have the time or money for a proper replacement.

I've seen speculation they're going to work with RMC to partially redesign the layout, folding the two halves up to create a double out and back on X2's site. That would mean replacing the outerbanked turn with a new element as well as adjusting the brakes/station setup. This would fit perfectly where X2 is and not cause issues with infrastructure or terrain.

I just want to point out that SFMM is getting a brand new coaster type next year. I think the higher ups in the chain may be expecting people to accept the vekoma prototype as the spiritual successor to the prototype that X2 originally was, and Arieforce being a nice supplement to help the medicine go down.

I haven’t seen anyone significantly comment on that being a fantastic 1-2 investment for the park. Objectively, it is. Sure, in the context of the chain the relocation destination is definitely a….. choice, but it’s a guaranteed net to get lots of people who care about coasters to visit the park within the next 2 years.

Would AF1 fit in the back of the park if they removed apocalypse and/or riddler? I'm not sure anyone would truly miss those rides (even though riddler was a top 5 roller coaster for me when it opened in 1998). And that area of the park -- other than that area near west coast racers -- needs TLC. I do wonder if Six Flags still cares about MM having the most roller coasters anymore and wants to focus on reducing their staff and operating costs. Knocking down another coaster or two might help if those rides aren't huge crowd-pleasers.

Riddler's is low key one of the most popular rides in the park. You would also have West Coast Racers still in between the lots; not the spot you could squeeze in AF1.

With X2 already coming down, it would point to using that plot. AF1's L-shape would be a natural fit for the X2 plot/causeway due north of Viper. It's also a great use of AF1's sightline, with the dive loop being the new, "greeting" element for drivers coming into SFMM. Overbank would also give a great view of the park as you dive into the backhalf of the ride.
