How far have you travelled for a theme park or coaster and where is on your"mustdo"?

Have you travelled to other countries to try out a ride?What theme/amusement park or coaster is on your list to visit?although I am in England one place I really want to visit is Magic Mountain and Six Flags Parks in general as they're all about the coasters!I want to see Los Angeles anyway having grown up loving films so it would be the best of both worlds.Tatsu is the coaster I most want to take on as have never been on a flying coaster.The pretzel loop looks like it gives you a workout!
I haven't been to many parks abroad but when I went to Barcelona I did a trip up to Mount Tibidabo and loved the amusement park there.The views are stunning and although the coasters are family coasters the red coaster is quite fast with views all over the mountain!There's also a plane on crane ride which goes right over the edge.Has anyone else been to Mount Tibidabo?

In terms of travel distance, my week in Florida.

In terms of actual travel length, over twelve hours for a fairground in France.

Right now, the roller coaster I want to ride the most that I haven't done yet is Siren's Curse at Cedar Point. It excites me more than something like Steel Vengeance due to my morbid curiosity regarding the tilt track, and the onboard audio as an added bonus.
The Drachen Hohle at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind is also very high up my list, as I was standing directly in front of it in 2011 in London and decided not to ride for one reason or another.
I would also add Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida for its incredible-looking spinning. Despite its short length, it looks like one of the most fun roller coasters you can find anywhere.

Siren's curse looks like an experience and a half!I'd love to check out the tilt coaster in Saudi Arabia.When I saw a tilt coaster for the first time I couldn't believe my eyes!they're humongous
 
Travel?! Oh, absolutely. I think you'll find here a majority of the members here have visited other countries for parks. As far as I go (US based), I've been to all 50 states and 44 countries world ride across 4 continents and even those are rookie numbers for others here 😅

Would love to get back to Asia myself and tear up some coasters (and culture)
 
I can answer this quite nicely with a map.

For context, I live fairly close to Alton Towers - yellow dots are the 'to do' list. I forget what black dots are.

The daftest 'single' trip is probably the three nights in Atlanta this Summer for Arie Force One. Although, I did try to get to Oakwood on public transport back in 2005.

I also have all my visited parks marked down in a map. I'm based in Spain and, physically, the furthest park I've travelled to is Universal Studios Singapore.

Blue is visited parks, Green is parks I would have been visiting this Summer that didn't happen

I knocked a bunch of stuff off my bucket list this year and haven't really given a thought to what rides are still on there at this point. The only place I'm still really wanting to get to at this point is probably China. I was supposed to go this Summer but ended up having to cancel the trip due to the typhoon that hit Shanghai.

Canobie fan,have wanted to go to Japan for a while and from watching videos have realised how cool their coasters are(if a little off the wall)

Will,you're lucky to live so close to Alton Towers.What is your favourite ride there?My cousin used to live near there but I don't think she visited

I forgot to say in my original post that the red coaster on the Barcelona mountain was a Vekoma one!
 
My furthest distance would be Florida.

Top of my list to do at the moment are Six Flags qiddiya, and I want to get out to Japan.

I had planned to do a last minute trip to Qiddiya this month, but with Falcons Flight and Spitfire both currently closed I decided to postpone for the moment.

Yeah,that Six Flag park looks very cool and would definitely go on Falcons Flight if I ever made it there,love the drop and the way the ride interacts with the surroundings!

I think i'd like to add Cedar Point to my list but is unlikely i'll make it over fo Ohio as it's not one of the US states that I really want to see,Utah,California and Oregon are some of those states

The furthest I've traveled to visit a park is 5,100 miles (8,200 kilometers) from NYC to Santiago, Chile, for Fantasilandia. Will need to do it again to see its new location in 2028.
 
I live in the UK and have ridden coasters in New Zealand, so I guess that's roughly about as far as you can get from home to ride one isn't it? 18,222 km in a straight line, apparently :)

7,600 miles between Columbus, OH and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. 😊 to be fair, the travel was work… the extra day spent abroad was coasters. 😂

Must do? Probably one of the English (Alton, Thorpe) or German parks (Fantasialand), which I’d love to target our next trip abroad!
 
Back in 2014 I reached a certain birthday milestone <cough 40! cough> and said to myself 'Right, I need to ride the tallest rollercoaster in the world', so I booked a trip for the sole purpose of riding Kingda Ka which, from my front door to the loading station, was 3379 miles and some yards.
I mean obviously I did the rest of the park too, I didn't just ride KK and jump straight back on a plane to the UK, and we did some sights and a few other parks while over there, but essentially that's the furthest I've travelled 'for a cred'.

Obviously, I don't have the 'World's Tallest Coaster' cred anymore so the next one would have been Six Flags Qiddya for Falcon's Flight. Realistically if it wasn't for Falcon's Flight I probably would have zero interest in visiting that part of the world but damn... I need that cred!
Honestly, I was a whisker away from pulling the trigger on a Saudi trip, but then The Donald did a thing so uhm
.. yeah, that's on hold for now.

Anyways, even if I did go, that's still only a distance of 3159 miles so Kingda Ka would still be King (which of course it always was ;) ) .

Flying, my furthest coasters are likely at Knotts Berry Farm. Driving, I did a 1000 mile road trip (the Americans on here are probably laughing at that pitiful distance) from my home near Cambridge to Walibi Holland via Plopsaland Belgium and then Walibi Belgium.

Got a flat tyre at the farthest point.

Yeah a couple of >2,000 mile road trips around Europe doing theme parks.

2024 saw me do this road trip here which was almost entirely theme parks. From Orlando (4,000 miles) driving up to Connecticut (another 2,350 miles) and then flying back home (3,400 miles) I guess that's just shy of 10,000 miles for the sake of 100 creds?

Also, end of 2025 I went to Hong Kong to meet my partners family. Managed to convince them we needed 2 days at HK Disney, not for a cred but because Mystic Manor was closed for maintenance on the day we intended to go, but not the day before, so in some far fetched round about way I guess you could say I travelled 12,000 miles for Mystic Manor?
 
300 miles to Europa Park so 600 round trip is as far as I've been just for creds. I mean I had a nice meal in Strasbourg with my partner, but really I went for the creds. I have been further and been on a cred, but not gone for the cred. I guess there was also a teenage trip to Florida, but not under my own steam.

I’m in the UK and I have also ridden coasters in New Zealand as well as Australia - Superman Escape at WBMW was my number one coaster for a long time as well! (Would love to go back down under at some point too)

My must do list would include Japan - such an interesting place and has some great rides as well.

Also would love to go back to the US at some point as there’s parks I would like to revisit etc but not keen at the moment for obvious reasons!
 
Nothing really exotic for me. I have done trips to Europe specifically for coaster purposes. It was probably a Spain trip I did with a few others on here way back in 2007.

In terms of journey time though, I grossly underestimated Oakwood twice. Once via Huddersfield to pick up Harvey and then my awful Sat Nav took me in North Wales and through all the B roads. That was an 8.5 hour drive. The second time I set off at 1am to arrive there for that morning, leaving my car at Robs who in turn left his car at Martyn’s who in turn drove us the rest of the way there. Bloody stupid. All for a woodie and a death trap water ride.
