Small News From The Theme Park Industry

A fire broke out at Gardaland earlier today in the Western area underneath Raptor. Apparently a structure under refurbishment ignited under unknown circumstances and caused visible damage, but not enough to cause the park to be evacuated, and the fire was put out by emergency responders shortly after. Raptor remains shut as of this writing and it’s unknown if the fire caused any damage to the coaster.

And it only improved the park!

Raptor has reopened as of 2 P.M. today:

Parque de Atracciones de Zaragoza will not open to the public this year due to ongoing financial difficulties with the park’s parent company, which is currently involved in insolvency proceedings. The park was open for private events throughout the spring, but a public opening this month was abandoned after the owners failed to reach a deal with an Argentine operator to help run the park. The city of Zaragoza hopes that a new operating structure could be formed in time for a reopening next year, but all employees are on leave and the park as a whole is in limbo as of now.

Argentine group Fenix Entertainment will take over the park, as its original parent company, which founded it in 1974, navigates bankruptcy proceedings. The park will remain closed for the next two months to prepare for reopening in October, with about half the attractions operational. The park is looking to be fully operational by March 2027. Nice to know Zamperla have few morals, be a shame if a Shahed drone landed here...
Idk why people keep being surprised by ride companies building rides in Russia, let alone Zamperla. They've basically built an entire amusement park in Pyongyang with Kaeson Youth Park and manufacturers work with basically any project they can do.

But yeah it does seem like the sanctions aren't affecting the amusement industry at all. Intamin at least isn't based in the EU (altho probably follows the same sanction regimen) but Zamperla is stationed in Italy.

The rumour is the Intamins werent sold to Russia but came from a failed park in China. (I've not been able to confirm) but that would mean Intamin never sold them to Russia

However Zamperla seem to be selling plenty over there.

Amusingly the new park map for Dream Island (Also in Moscow) shows another coming soon Zamperla Double Heart

MovieLand Italy will be introducing three new experiences for 2027, which will include two changes to existing attractions to increase capacity:

Return to Pangea II
Pangea is the attraction where guests drive their own jeep around a track and encounter dinosaurs. This will be re-done to 'Return to Pangea II', and will introduce tank-like vehicles capable of holding 20 people, bringing the throughput to up to 800pph.

Sahara Jeep: Test Track
The jeeps from Pangea will be used in a brand new attraction. It will include more elevation changes and faster speeds.

DragonJet vs SuperJet
The Kitt SuperJet attraction will now run two boats simultaneously, and they will 'battle' against each other. The Dragon boat will be less intense than the Super boat.

Fantastic to see I love that place

Over the weekend, I was at Fun Spot America Atlanta, where all the talk was of Texas Tornado at Wonderland in Amarillo derailing (in addition to the park closing, of course), but I couldn't find posts about it here. It happened on Saturday, and no one was injured, but that's two derailments in a matter of weeks. The coaster remains closed while the investigation into the incident continues. Source
It's the middle car in the images below.

...and it happened during an ACE event I believe 👀
Correct! Thus, all the talk at the ACE event for ArieForce One on Sunday.

On a lighter note - Those wanting to eat chicken cooked on a miniature roller coaster will have to look elsewhere. The viral 'Chicken Amusement Park’ food stand at the Khareef Dhofar festival in Oman was closed due to inspections finding undercooked meat. Source

Do you like Efteling?
Do you like listening to De Vliegende Hollander?
Are you Australian?

Well good news because Dreamworld is now playing that audio at the entrance!
