Freizeitpark Plohn | Dønnervind | Mack Water Coaster | 2026

A few shots from a recent TV segment (not sure if this can be watched outside of germany, also only available until 18.02.).

Universal Rocks is on site and work on various theming pieces like the big hammer next to the second launch, a rockwork archway over the turn before the first splash down and a second archway at the second splash down has started. The latter two look like they will provide nice near misses.
Before the first launch there will be an indoor show scene.
Construction is behind schedule due to the harsh weather conditions in the last few weeks. The current plan is to let in water in the beginning of april and start testing soon after. Opening could then follow sometime in May.

Looks like an awesome family ride! 2nd launch could be a bit faster so there'd be less sideways hangtime I guess but otherwise.

These closed box style LSM/LIMs (which?) are a fun sight, I know Mack also uses them on the rocking boat model, before that I last recall seeing them on the Mummy coasters at the Universal parks from Premier.

It looks great!

Can't but think we're not seeing full launch speed on that second launch - looks precariously close to stalling almost. Maybe they'll wind it up...?

I wouldn't have clocked this unless you'd said, but that's a good spot! I'd be really interested to know the differences between them from an engineering standpoint. Is there some sort of efficiency thing at play? Or something to do with the train shape (this is my guess). Do we know of any other rides that use this?

EDIT: Unstuck. Opens tomorrow, so willing to take the punt.

For Mack I have to assume it's so that they don't have to have big fins sticking out from under the boat when they free float like this does and/or they don't want fins being completely submerged in water. I know Premier used them on the Mummy coasters because they can be placed on curves unlike normal fin styled ones, Mack also uses them for curves on the rocking boats, not on this obviously.

Solid shout - possibly the flat magnets on the underside of the train work better for the watersplash elements. Wouldn't have occurred to me without you pointing it out. These sort of engineering things fascinate me - it's why I enjoy being an engineer! :)

At the opening event it was said that there is still some fine tuning to do and that some improvements will be made over the coming months without anybody going into specifics. Presumably this will be mostly about making the high five element work more consistently, but also adding a bit more power to the second launch, which was hinted at by Michael Mack. Currently the boat is roughly 3 to 4 seconds slower in the second part when compared to the simulation video.
The park is also still in the process of finishing their solar power plant to satisfy the increased power demand, which might be part of why they are not running the coaster at full power right now. The speed difference might not seem huge but as the needed energy scales exponentially relative to the velocity (if i'm not mistaken) the difference might be more than negligible. But thats speculation. Maybe Mack just has to figure out how to get the best performance out of these LIMs.

The coaster also has been down a few times over the opening weekend, which is not completely unexpected for a prototype i guess. Rumors range from "not enough power" to "magnets overheating due to hot weather" which would be unfortunate for a water ride haha
