My worst ever spite was Kingda Ka. It was the focal point of a rollercoaster holiday when I was a kid, to ride the tallest and fastest coaster ever made. We found out when we got there that it had been struck by lightning and would be down during our stay.
Since then, recently missing Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens is the worst spite I've had since then. Due to it being under annual maintenance (and by that, I mean it is under maintenance all year round, seemingly).
adventure dome in las vegas... why oh why did you have to be closed on my vacation. checked via google... closed. called the adventure dome number and listened to their hours... completely contradict the google site saying it was closed. listen to the phone recording again, and at the end they give the most lovely message of, "hours are subject to change at any moment of the day." so not only did i waste a day flying to vegas from my vacation in cali to try to get the el loco credit, but the crap hole dome wont open till the day i was supposed to leave.. literally right as my plane would be leaving they would open.. needless to say vegas spited me, and honestly could care less about the credit. not going back just for 1 credit that'll cost me 70+ bucks to get it. so decided to just leave a day early to head back home, and start planning my 2027 vacation.
Not sure if this truly counts in this thread, as it's a sort-of string of events, but to tell the [short] story of my current predicament.
Back in the 2024/2025 off-season I roughed in both an "Atlanta" trip and a "Texas" trip, with a view to doing one-per-year in 2025 and 2026. With Tormenta coming in 2026 and Cotaland being pushed back, I opted for 'Atlanta' last year (trip report here: Southeast USA - June 2025), leaving 2026 for the 'Texas' trip.
I fly home tomorrow from the 'Texas' trip, and have had a fantastic time and explored loads (I'll try to do a trip report soon), but:
Six Flags didn't bother getting Tormenta finished before the start of the season.
Magic Springs was a mess, with only two of the four creds being open (I already knew, and was fine with, the woodie being shut), and so I didn't fancy the $80 entry for a crap SLC and crap kiddie cred...
SeaWorld San Antonio were doing maintenance on Great White (fair enough, these things happen).
Camp Fimfo operate an insane schedule for their alpine coaster, so even though I'd arrived during an operating window, I couldn't ride for over 90mins - I had much better things to do than wait.
Then finally, Cotaland couldn't be arsed to finish their park (or even open anything).
However, I've hit 49 creds and 18 parks on this trip, so this has by no means been a bad trip and it's been great fun with lots of non-cred things done too.
So why post in this thread you may wonder...? Well... that's cos of where it leaves my coaster count... 999.
