Chessington World of Adventures | Unknown | Intamin Unknown | 2027

Given how close Thorpe and Chessington are, I'm still surprised that Merlin haven't tried to combine them in some way.

Something like stay at one of the resort hotels and get a day at each park, with a shuttle bus between them. Or even just a normal (free) shuttle bus so the family can stay at Chessington and the thrill seekers can get to Thorpe and back without needing a car, while the parent(s) can stay with the younger ones.
Could even make them electric buses charged from solar panels covering the car parks, really bump their green marketing (and I'm sure there's government incentive they can bag on the way).

Maybe even a park hopper pass like Disney, spend the morning at Chessington and the afternoon at Thorpe. Or pop in to check on the thrill seekers before nipping back to Chessie on the next hourly shuttle.

They could offer the online advance discount ticket price on the day if you're staying at either resort and decide you want to give the other one a go after breakfast.

Or even just advertise the fact there's another Merlin park less than 20 miles away! I don't remember seeing any specific marketing for Chessington last time I was at Thorpe. I get they serve different markets, but I can almost guarantee there will be some parents taking their older kids there that don't know there's also a park for their younger ones close by.

Realistically, despite being geographically close, depending on the time of day and route, that journey is anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. It would be almost impossible to run it to a timetable and regularly without a fleet of buses which would be a significant expense. Merlin won't even operate a bus to Alton Towers so the notion of them running a two way hourly service like this is unfortunately pure fantasy.

I think that journey time and distance is beyond what families would be comfortable separating for too.

Maybe they could offer less regular morning and evening coaches between the 3 parks for hotel / cabin guests though... Creating an almost Disney style Legoland, Chessington and Thorpe 'Merlin Bubble.' Encouraging guests to stay longer at their hotels and enjoy other parks, all as part of the package.

For example, if you stay 2 nights or more at one of the hotels, you can upgrade to / purchase a kind of park hopper ticket, which allows you to visit any of the 3 parks, and includes free access to the morning and evening buses between the 3 parks.

Let's be honest, Universal hotels to Disney can be 20 to 40 mins depending on traffic, and that's if you rent a car!!! Universal to Busch Gardens is over an hour, sometimes 90 minutes in a car. Merlin parks are not Universal, sure... But Universal is coming. It WILL bring international guests. Many of those guests will be international goons who, if enticed enough, will want to experience the regional parks too. Just like we do when we go to Orlando. So not only does exploring this idea make it easier for families to extend their 'Merlin Break.' In the long run it might draw some Universal guests into the 'Merlin Bubble' too.

As a side note, the idea of a 'Merlin Bubble' with the current state of their parks is not only cringy, it's actually scary, but that's another subject altogether, let's assume that they're working to bring the South Parks up to standard before Universal arrives.

That looks very cute. The train design is delightful. I don't like chessington, but that is a perfect fit for kids crossing over from legoland rides

Paw patrol land opens 3rd of May.

Had a tricky time deciding what to do with this thread - there are two options:
• A thread for each of the two different creds (The Paw Patrol cred and the Minecraft cred), but then...
• The Paw Patrol cred is a basic Zeirer cred, and the Minecraft cred might actually be more interesting.

Guess which one I decided to rename/re-sort this thread to...? hint - the one that isn't so boring

All Chessington updates (for both creds) to be posted in this thread please. The Minecraft one is, let's be honest, the one we actually care about*.

*Plus I can't be arsed to split all the specific posts up into different threads - if another Mod/Admin has the motivation, then have at it.

Chessington don't need a big thrilling Intamin though. A family thrill, unique indoor coaster that can theoretically operate 365 with a very popular evergreen IP is arguably the best investment they've made in 35 years.

Oh yea no this is a great fit for them and should be a fantastic ride, i meant im just really happy to see a new Intamin in the UK regardless of its thrill level. Considering we have now had three Intamins in the 2020s and before that are last Intamin was Th13teen in 2010 im in general happy to see them making a return to the UK.

I know there's this and Gold Rush, but what's the third Intamin? I've forgotten lol

Paw Patrol World suffers from a lot of shortcomings, the most prevalent being awful sightlines to and from Forbidden Kingdom and the general location of the area.
I delve deeper into my full report, but I dislike how considering the location, the area only has the singular entrance portal, which means that entering from Croc Drop you have to walk across the entire length of the area before you can enter it. The whole area is walled off with very garish cartoony walls which severely contrast when you're walking through Forbidden Kingdom. Why they didn't theme one side of these walls to be more in-line with that area is beyond me.
Whole area feels.. temporary, to say the least.
The pre-show for the roller coaster lacks childproofing, where we managed to watch the pre-show four times as a result.
I think this world is, by quite some way, a large downgrade from Mexicana. Scorpion Express was for the whole family and something that I wanted to ride on every visit to Chessington, but nothing here I want to do more than once ever again.
I am not a fan.
