Valleyfair | Unknown | Unknown | 2026

Here is the progress they have made with the Dinosaur's Alive section of the park since 2019.

2020: Concrete pathways have been removed
2021-22: No major changes (pandemic)
2023: Much of the tree cover has been removed
2024: More trees removed, flattened a plot of land for what looks like a future ride entrance, dug a trench where the tracks may lead from the entrance
2025: Concrete pathway laid

I don't believe I've seen this timelapse fleshed out anywhere else. Nothing earth shattering, but it's firm evidence that something is in the works instead of just speculation about the space. This space is clearly being prepared for a roller coaster. The new pathway is an exciting sign. The last photo here is from March 2025, 2 months after they refinanced their mortgage.

This is my own financial opinion, but there is no reason their mortgage should have doubled since renegade, not without major new investments. They've been paying down that mortgage for almost 20 years now with no major additions since. They've also demolished/sold many small attractions that should have lightened up their overhead and labor (dinos alive, looping starship, riptide, chaos, ripcord, adventure golf, enterprise etc...).

We know shockingly little still
Actually that's wrong because we know everything about a project that hasn't been announced yet.

Soak City waterpark will be rebranded to Superior Shores, per trademarks. Attraction names and new amenities remain an unknown but we have a clear idea of what to expect.

In terms of new additions, there's three. 1) Is a new children's slide lagoon on the vacant Looping Starship site, with some slides being prepped at 2). Your new slide tower is being prepared at 3) while 4) is a brand new utilities/services building replacing the Taco restaurant.

New slide tower replaces the old body slide complex from the eighties, except instead of any body slides we have three tube slides and a Parallel Pursuit matt racer. The latter is using matt slide specific startup tubs and while I'm surprised they didn't try to create four lanes for capacity (matt slides tend to eat people), it'll be a secondary attraction on that tower and have a fun layout.

The tube slide trio are all equivalent to one another, which is a good thing since historically with these designs you'll get a bowl slide crunched into a normal trio and then suddenly there's a line going down the stairs for one slide and few volunteers for the other two. These three will nicely be able to split demand with their own features; Yellow has Constrictor helixes, Teal has similar Tailspin saucers (functionally doing the same thing), but I think the sleeper hit will be Turquoise, which as seen below does a very ballsy drop into a wide helix to bleed off speed before hitting a smaller one. It's a bit of a nutty design on the latter and overall these will be excellent non-cookie-cutter attractions for this park.

I've heard that park-level people are not happy that corporate has been forcing them to hold in an announcement for months after what would have been multiple key opportunities to push season pass sales and disallowing the media team from running their own construction coverage. It's going to have to come out soon because the next earnings call is in a few days, but Six Flags has not been kind to this project.

Dude, I appreciate you so much

So no new coaster, ever, huh. Cool stuff.

It’s a good thing Six Flags sold Valleyfair.

They were spread way too thin and Valleyfair was being totally neglected. Six Flags is in serious debt. Now Valleyfair is going to be supported by private capital under Enchanted Parks, and Valleyfair instantly becomes one of their nicest parks. New owners will be looking to leave their mark on their new parks. Dino's Alive is still sitting vacant as a wasted opportunity.

We've seen private equity boost much smaller parks in Iowa while Valleyfair sat neglected by Six Flags/Cedar Fair.

Enchanted Parks just dropped a press release today on the waterpark, they finally hinted at a new waterpark entrance:

  • NEW – Reimagined Waterpark Entrance: A refreshed arrival experience that transforms entry into Superior Shores Waterpark, enhancing guest flow, immersion, and first impressions from the moment guests arrive.
"First impressions." "Refreshed arrival experience."

That's a new parking lot and separate waterpark entrance. They've talked about doing this project for like 2 decades now. Families with toddlers/infants understand how valuable this renovation is. It's going to drive a lot of new traffic to the park. Tons of families are moving to the Shakopee area lately, including my family. The city continues to boom as an entertainment district. I think the future is much brighter now under new management, it certainly cannot get worse.
